Lead Manufacturing Operator
Position Description
The Lead Manufacturing Operator will contribute to our R&D program for cutting-edge biologics delivery. The Lead Manufacturing Operator will be responsible for running our proprietary Microglassification process—transforming aqueous protein solution into high-concentration non-aqueous suspensions. This will involve both GLP and non-GLP manufacturing in support of internal development and clinical programs in collaboration with pharmaceutical partners. Good communication and time management skills are critical to meeting position expectations and goals. The operator is expected to work both independently with guidance from their supervisor and in a group setting in their department and larger team. This includes working closely with other Manufacturing team members and the Analytics team to promptly and effectively communicate laboratory activities and updates on projects.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Set up equipment, run the Microglassification process, break down and clean equipment according to established procedures.

Monitor the manufacturing process while equipment is running.

Troubleshoot problems that arise with equipment and/or processes and make basic repairs/adjustments.

Follow detailed, extensive, multi-step standard operating procedures properly.

Complete batch records and related documentation in real time before, during, and after manufacturing with accuracy and detail.

Regularly inspect, clean and perform maintenance on equipment to keep it in good working order.

Recognize potential issues and communicate with the engineers to reach quick resolution.

Ensure cleanliness of manufacturing areas.

Manage the manufacturing schedule.

Adjust work schedule to address any changes in priorities.

Coordinate activities with the process development, formulation, and analytical teams to support manufacturing improvements and further R&D.

Assist the analytical team with routine analysis as needed.
Requirements:
Minimum Required Education and/or Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum 4 years’ experience, or;
-
Master’s degree with a minimum of 2 years’ experience.

Relevant certifications will be considered as part of the candidate’s overall experience.

Candidate’s years of experience should correlate with their knowledge of laboratory techniques, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities, and strong communication skills.

Knowledge of aseptic techniques is desirable.

Supervisory Responsibilities: The Lead Manufacturing Operator will oversee a small team of 1-2 manufacturing technicians, who will all report to the Senior Scientist.

Physical Demands:

This job primarily operates in both a professional office setting and a research laboratory setting requiring the usage of appropriate PPE.

Laboratory environment may involve exposure to moderate noise levels.

Frequent standing for extended periods of time may be required.
-
Adequate manual dexterity is required for assembling equipment and operating inside of a fume hood and/or biosafety cabinet.

Capable of working typical business hours with an occasional longer shift.
-
Frequent use of standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copiers, and scanners.
-
Must be able to maneuver items up to 45 lbs. with limited assistance at times.
